Photo:This picture is from the 'Street Cries' series by William Marshall Craig. The series is called 'Street Cries' because the title of the pictures are the words that traders would have shouted to advertise their goods. Jacob Kimhi, a Jew from Turkey, was well known as a seller of slippers who stood by the Royal Exchange or walked along the Strand, Cornhill and Cheapside. He was also a distinguished Hebrew scholar. 1804.
